History

Incorporated in 2016, the Golden Community Social Services Coop focused on social sector resilience, social planning, and community development. 

As the Coop evolved and integrated the Community Economic Development function in late 2019, the organization shifted to the name Golden Community Coop and broadened the scope of its offerings including providing community economic development services for the Town of Golden and CSRD Area A.

In early 2022, the Coop made another key transition, this time, to its structure. Moving away from being a cooperative, the organization became a non-profit society with its entire focus on community economic development, hence the name Golden Community Economic Development, or Golden CED for short.
